From what I understand you have to have that last sleeve to back out to run the ES.
What I would recommend is coating the tops of the solids w/ undercoating, then the washers/nuts on the bottom in an attempt to subdue some of the noise. I've done it on a couple cars and it seems to help the noise level (I've not done back to back on the same car to know for sure)
